To be perfectly honest, the name was born from a slight resentment. Hearing the word create and creative used by fine artists in almost an exclusive manner, led me on a mission to “prove” that creativity is not only a birthright, but also a necessary component of mental wellness. I had spent years speaking around the country about creative mental health and innately knew life itself is art, best lived when based on a creative outlook. Thus, the term Studio. In this practice we co-create lives, perspectives & alternative approaches to challenges. This is a life design studio.
But why Found Souls? Isn’t that a bit new-agey? Not really. In life, many times have I lost my core essence, allowed myself to be diverted from the core of who I really am. I know I am not alone. I have treated thousands of patients who have found mental wellness by exploring who they really are getting headed in that
direction. Thus the word soul.
And finally the word Found. I chose that word naively. Like a child on an Easter egg hunt “I found one” I might exclaim. Thinking that we are looking for something that has been lost. Doing some research, I learned more about what found meant. Found is defined as being already equipped with everything needed. Wow! Another core principle of my psychiatry practice. Its already in you, we might just need to bring it out. Found is also defined as a base from which further growth is based upon. Simply perfect.
So, that’s the story of the name Found Souls Studio. I believe in you. I will help you believe in the fact that you are already equipped with what you need to create the life you deserve. Together we will co-create the life you deserve.
